Both teams created chances to take the win but it ended in a goalless draw.
The points were shared in an intense match between two teams who fought hard for the full ninety minutes. Both sides knew how important the game at La Línea Municipal Stadium could be in the race for qualification for next season’s Copa del Rey. Neither team were able to break the deadlock in a quintessential game of two halves.
In the first half it was the home side who dominated possession and had the better of the chances. Lucas was in outstanding form in the Ibiza goal, pulling out a couple of crucial saves and keeping his team in the game.
The second half was more even and there were less clear-cut chances. In the latter stages Ibiza pushed hard to find the winner. The home team had to clear a Cirio effort off the line and in the final seconds the opposition ‘keeper was forced into a fine save by Nuñez with a powerful first-time shot from ten yards out. But the goal just wouldn’t come and the match ended in a draw. The squad now turn their focus to next week’s fixture against Granada’s B team at Can Misses.
