In a highly physical and hard-fought battle, Ibiza picked up a valuable point to add to its overall points tally after round 23. After a bright opening ten minutes in which Pablo Alfaro’s side put the home side under heavy and relentless pressure, the match began to balance out and a physically demanding contest ensued. Ibiza’s line-up saw a number of changes to last weekend’s match against Sanse, with new recruit Pierre Cornud making his debut on the left-back position. With scores locked at 0-0, both sides went into the half with different sensations. Pontevedra would have been content to have maintained a draw and wrestled control back to an even keel from their visitors who felt as though they might have taken the lead during the early period of dominance.
In the second half, play continued to intensify in terms of the physicality and it became an even more difficult contest. With the home crowd getting behind Pontevedra, Ibiza tried to maintain the upper hand and score the opening goal with a number of promising attacking moves. In what was the fourth match against the side from Galicia, Ibiza eventually had to settle for a draw which on the balance of play can be seen as a fair result. By picking up yet another point, Ibiza keeps adding to its positive run of form and maintaining its position among the top sides in the standings of Group I in Segunda B.
Next up, Pablo Alfaro’s team welcome Coruxo to the Can Misses where the objective will be to make the point in Pontevedra count by getting all three in front of the Sky Blues’ fantastic home support.
