Don Benito get win against Ibiza with a second half goal from Pepe Bernal.

Ibiza were unable to add another win to their tally in Sunday’s Segunda B clash at Can Misses. The goal just wouldn’t come for Ibiza against a Don Benito side who pinched a goal straight after half-time and managed to hold on. In a stop-start first half, the visitors looked threatening at set pieces and Ibiza found it hard to get into their rhythm. The game was made even more of an uphill battle for Ibiza when Nuñez was sent off for a second booking on 34 minutes.

The second half began in the worst way possible. A shot from the edge of the box by Ibizan Pepe Bernal found it’s way through and into the back of the net. The home team appealed for a handball in the assist for the goal, but the goal stood. From then on, Palop’s side pushed forward and got into numerous threatening positions without ever really carving out clear chances.

Fobi came on for Grima to add fresh legs down Ibiza’s right wing, while Borriello and Armenteros came on in search of an equaliser for the final quarter of an hour. Ibiza were unable to convert their pressure into a goal, however, and Don Benito took the points, ending Ibiza’s excellent run of form. Ibiza now set their sights on next weekend’s away trip to face Cartagena.
