The island was in derby mode in the days leading up to today’s game. It’s been a decade since two Ibizan teams faced off in the Segunda B division the match between Peña Deportiva and Ibiza did not disappoint. Both in the stands, where hundreds of sky blue fans provided the stadium with a great atmosphere, and on the pitch, where Rodado and Mariano were the authors of both Ibiza’s goals that secured another three points. The sky blues executed their game plan to perfection and were well prepared for the style of the opposition. Ibiza put on yet another convincing display to see out 2019 in the best possible of ways, solidifying its position in the top section of the table even further.
Rodado put Ibiza in the lead with a powerful shot in front of goal to open the score. In true derby atmosphere, the entire bench made its way to celebrate the opener with the team’s number 9 who scored his eleventh goal of the season. The same scenes took place just before the break when another Ibiza player received the oncoming celebrations from his teammates. Converting a stinging header which found its way into the back of the net via the left post sealed the victory for Ibiza in today’s passionate derby.
Ibiza controlled the match in the second half to record another important victory, providing its fans with the best possible gift a few days out from Christmas, as the winners of the Ibizan derby.
