Serra’s goal gave Ibiza their first win of the season at Can Misses in Palop’s debut on the Ibicenco bench.
Ibiza beat Recreativo to pick up their second win of the season, the first at home. Javi Serra’s second-half goal was just reward for an Ibiza side who got back on the winning track.
Straight from kick-off it was Palop’s side who were onto the front foot, pressing the opposition in their own half and trying to get balls into the box. However, it was Recreativo who almost broke the deadlock with a free kick that ricocheted off the post into the grateful hands of UD Ibiza goalkeeper Álex Sánchez. In an even first half, Ibiza won various corners and had various good efforts from distance, Alejandro Chavero in particular looking dangerous from the edge of the box with two drives that whistled just over the bar.
The second half saw Ibiza carry on where they left off before the break, defending solidly and getting forward in numbers as soon as they regained possession. The goal was coming and when it did, through Javi Serra, it was worth the wait. The right winger cut in from the right and fired a viscous left-footed shot that nestled in the bottom left to put Ibiza in the lead to the delight of the Can Misses crowd. Ibiza showed their game management skills by closing out the game from there and take their first home win of the season.
