Ibiza get three crucial points at Can Misses thanks to two late goals.
Ibiza went into their final home match of the season at Can Misses knowing a win would keep their Copa del Rey qualification hopes alive. Pablo Alfaro’s side began the game confidently but were unable to trouble the opposition goalkeeper in the opening minutes. Málaga’s B team began to see more of the ball as the half advanced and their goal arrived in the nineteenth minute through Deco. Ibiza reacted well to going a goal down and got back on the attack straight from the restart but were unable to find an equaliser before the break.
After half-time, Ibiza gained control of possession and were well positioned on the pitch without creating any clear chances. Alfaro brought Jordi on up front and he was key to the late Ibiza comeback that ensued. A goalmouth scramble ended in Deco scoring an own goal with just two minutes left on the clock. And a couple of minutes later, Jordi was brought down in the box and the referee awarded the penalty. Cirio converted from the spot to give Ibiza a dramatic injury-time win. Ibiza need one more point from their final match to confirm qualification for next season’s Copa del Rey. Next Sunday, last match of the season in Melilla.
