Cirio scored both Ibiza goals at the Vicente Sanz stadium.

Ibiza picked up a third draw in a row against Don Benito in a classic game of two halves. Ibiza scored their two goals in the first half but Cirio’s brace wasn’t enough to take all three points. The home team scored two in quick succession in the second half and the game ended all square.

The match began with Ibiza on the front foot and looking to get forward in numbers. On the 5th minute, Rodado and Raí connected on the right and the Brazilian’s cross was met by Cirio. The Ibiza captain’s first-time finish put Ibiza ahead. Alfaro’s side were well positioned on the pitch and controlling possession. 15 minutes later, Cirio was first to a loose ball in the box and he doubled the Ibiza lead. It was an excellent start for the away team, and it could have been three when Provencio arrived late in the box to get on the end of a pull-back but he dragged his shot wide of the left upright. Ibiza had further chances in the first half but were unable to increase the two-goal lead.

The second half started very differently to the first. Don Benito were seeing more possession and looked to launch as many balls as possible into the box. Ibiza held firm in defence and tried to counter whenever possible. Rodado came close to grabbing a third but failed to beat the ‘keeper, who was forced into an excellent save. Just as it seemed that Ibiza were getting back on top, Gómez pulled one back for the hosts from a corner. A minute later, Pozo equalised with long-range effort that looped over Álex and nestled in the back of the net.

Ibiza responded well to the setback and threw men forwards in search of a winner in the final 25 minutes. Both teams had half-chances to get the definitive goal, but the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
