First defeat of the Alfaro era in the away game against Marbella.
Ibiza were unable to take points from the trip to Marbella and were on the wrong end of a 3-1 result against the Andalusian team for whom Juanma scored a brace.
Marbella were the better side over the 90 minutes, especially so in the first half. The home side had various chances to score in the first thirty minutes but Alfaro’s side managed to hang in the game. Ibiza even had a good opportunity to open the scoring, through a well-struck shot from Armenteros, but the opposition goalkeeper managed to keep it out. Just as it seemed Ibiza were starting to gain momentum, two goals in quick succession for Juanma put Marbella in control of the match and left Alfaro’s team with it all to do in the second half.
The head coach made a double substitution at half-time in an attempt to get more numbers into attacking areas and the half began well with more possession for Ibiza, although it remained difficult to carve out any clear-cut chances. The home side put the game to bed in the 72nd minute with a header from Montero. Rodado got an injury time consolation goal for Ibiza.
