Ibiza’s debut in the Copa del Rey cup competition has a confirmed date and time. On Wednesday 18 December Ibiza will take to the field of Pasarón to take on Pontevedra. The kick-off is set for 7 PM in a knock-out tie. The Copa del Rey format sees teams play each other in a knock-out match-up until the semifinal round in order to increase the competition’s appeal and interest. Pablo Alfaro’s team are eager to ensure that the club’s maiden cup tie will begin positively to then be in the draw for the second round where a team from Primera División could await. First, however, Ibiza must overcome a Pontevedra side that it knows all too well with the Galician team being in Ibiza’s group I of Segunda B. This season, the islanders will face Pontevedra three times, with the club travelling to Pasarón again at the start of February 2020. In round four of the current league campaign, Ibiza beat Pontevedra at Can Misses by two goals to one.
