Despite being 185 centimetres tall, Javier Pérez Mateo, born in Alcalá de Henares nearly 24 years ago, his growth spurt as a footballer came after spending the last seasons in the reserves of Almería and Valladolid. Fernando Soriano today presented the Madrid-born midfielder who signed for Ibiza during the summer. “He is a player who brings a lot of enthusiasm and an eagerness to grow together along with the project. He is a right-footed player who can play either as an ‘8’ or a ’10’, has good shooting abilities, a high work-rate, a real box-to-box player. He adds creativity and also knows how to make sacrifices for the team, so he is a very complete player”.

Javi Pérez knows Second Division B very well, having played in group 1 and now, wearing the Sky Blue jersey, he is very excited about the prospect of having a big year ahead both personally and as a team. “This project has noticeably different ambitions to that of a reserve team. We’re building a great group here for the season ahead. I’ve been received and treated so well here since I arrived, from everyone involved at the club. It will be a difficult and challenging league campaign, but we will give it our all and take it on with positivity”, he said during his presentation. After listening to Soriano’s declarations about himself and his characteristics as a player, Javi Pérez pointed out that he likes to defend as much as he likes attacking: “I’m versatile, I like getting into the box and looking to score, create chances… but above all, I like to roam around the centre of the pitch“.
