1-0: IBIZA GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS

A Miguel Nuñez header gives Ibiza the victory against Cartagena.

Ibiza beat Cartagena in Sunday's midday kick-off at Can Misses. A Nuñez goal in the second half gave Alfaro's side the win and takes the team's unbeaten run to five matches.

The game began with both sides having to fight hard to gain control of possession. It was a first half of few chances. Ibiza were more threatening in attack, Bonilla put various dangerous balls into the box but was unable to connect with the strikers. Cirio came close to scoring on the stroke of half-time when he ran onto a ball into the box but his first-time effort went inches over the bar.

The second half saw Ibiza continuing to look strong at the back and confident in possession. The home team's dominance was rewarded in the 67th minute when Miguel Nuñez headed Bonilla's free kick past the goalkeeper to put Ibiza ahead. Alfaro's team pushed for the second goal and Grima thought he'd found it with a well hit shot from the edge of the box but it crashed off the crossbar and away to safety. Raí put Cirio in on goal with an excellent long pass but the striker's shot towards the bottom corner was turned away for a corner by the goalkeeper.

Cartagena put the pressure on in the final minutes of the match and they had a chance to equalise but Lucas did well to hold on to the shot, ensuring the clean sheet and all three points. Ibiza get back to winning ways after three draws in a row. The squad now turn their attention to the next match against UCAM Murcia.
