Pablo Alfaro spent all week preparing his squad’s mindset in relation to the encounter versus UD San Sebastián de los Reyes. In the press conference room at the Matapiñonera he showed his satisfaction at the good level of play and performance produced by his Ibiza side: “We return to the island with a happy feeling after securing three really important points. We won the match starting by respecting the opponent and limiting their chances to a minimum. It wasn’t easy, despite what the scoreline may suggest”.
“Concede little and be ambitious”. Those two elements, together with “a belief in our attacking options to cause the opponent problems”, were crucial, according to Alfaro, for Ibiza to register its first win away from home this season. The head coach also recognised the players coming off the bench who gave the side balance in the second half: “The substitutions made a big contribution, especially given the hot conditions this morning”.
Thanks to a straight-forward trip without transfer connections, Ibiza’s travelling party was accompanied by a strong group of supporters in the stadium. This level of support can be expected to be repeated and seen again throughout the season as a result of several away matches being played in the Madrid region. Prior to wrapping up his post-match declarations, Pablo Alfaro wanted to thank the Ibiza supporters who had made the trip over to the mainland. “We’re so pleased for them. When you make the effort of travelling for an away match and see your team win, the return trip is that much more enjoyable”.
