The Copa del Rey arrives at Can Misses. Today, at 5PM, Ibiza will take on Albacete Balompié. Can Misses stadium will see one of the best afternoons of football experienced on the island in history. Motivation for the Sky Blues couldn’t be higher ahead of taking on opposition from the Second Division. 72 hours earlier, the islanders eliminated Pontevedra in Galicia to move to the second round and set up an historic event for the club and its supporters: to bring the magic and excitement of the Copa del Rey to the island against a team from a higher division. Albacete arrived in Ibiza yesterday afternoon without making public its squad list for the cup clash. The visitors will be without players Gorosito, Acuña, Fran García and Rei Manaj. Weighing heavily on the opposition’s mind is its next league match against Fuenlabrada to be played at the Carlos Belmonte next Tuesday.

Despite the visitors’ important upcoming league encounter, Albacete will field a formidable side this afternoon at Can Misses, something Ibiza’s head coach Pablo Alfaro was well aware of as he spoke to the press in yesterday’s pre-match press conference. The excitement and emotions of being able to play an historic match of this proportion is a welcome bonus to the normal league schedule which remains Ibiza’s top priority. All of the 21 players are available for selection and each one will wear the sky blue jersey with pride to defend and represent the hopes and aspirations of an entire island and its people.

Can Misses is preparing for a big occasion this afternoon. Pre-sales for the landmark occasion are soaring, aided by the match’s kick off time as well as the cup’s new format of a knock-out nature. All is set for a big spectacle which will include the island’s youth of all of the football schools to live and experience the magic of the cup. The entire island will be watching and supporting the Sky Blues this afternoon in the hope of getting Pablo Alfaro’s side across the line and into the next round of the cup competition to host another celebration on home soil.
