It’s a summer signing aimed at bringing stability to the the spine of the squad. That’s what Fernando Soriano, Ibiza’s sporting director, sees in the incorporation of Juan Antonio Arranz Albertos (Madrid, 14 January 1994). While presenting Toni Arranz, a versatile pivot, Soriano added: “We’re bringing in a right-footed player who can play either as a number 6 or an 8. Last year, he had a great season with UCAM Murcia. He’s a very smart player and has the ability to make the the right decisions quickly, whether with the ball or without. For this reason, he will bring a lot of balance to the side”.
A youth player during his time at Rayo Vallecano, he then went on to play for other Madrid-based teams such as Rayo Majadahonda and San Sebastián de los Reyes before taking his talents to Murcia. Now, he will take the next step in his career progression at Can Misses. “I want to grow and keep improving as a footballer and there’s no place better to do this than at a club as ambitious as this one ”, he said during his official presentation.
Arranz joined the squad at the beginning of the preseason camp in Valencia and still hasn’t had the opportunity to take in his new surroundings on the island. The level of professionalism he finds in the Sky Blue project gives him an idea of what to expect once he crosses the Mediterranean: “I’m surrounded by great players and a fantastic coaching staff. The club is growing and these are all factors which will help me settle into life on the island and see how things are done there. I can’t wait to get to Ibiza”.
Donning the number ‘6’ jersey, Arranz is gearing up to accumulate match fitness and become a strong part of the midfield engine room which will push Ibiza’s team from strength to strength.
