2-0: IBIZA KICK OFF 2ND HALF OF SEASON WITH A WIN VS SEVILLA ATLÉTICO

A Berrocal own goal and a goal from Javi Serra gave Ibiza the win at Can Misses.

Ibiza registered a 2-0 home win against Sevilla Atlético on Matchday 20, in the opening game of the second half of the league season. The attendance at Can Misses was one of the highest of the season so far and the home crowd enjoyed a competitive and entertaining match. Ibiza took the three points thanks to a first half own goal from Berrocal and a great Javi Serra goal in the final fifteen minutes of the game.

The early stages of the match were tight and a little cagey. Neither side was able to create clear chances in the opening twenty minutes, but it was Ibiza who were in control of possession and looking to ask questions of the opposition defence. The two Javis, García and Serra, were involved in much of Ibiza's positive attacking work, and it was a cross from Javi García that led to the first goal of the game. The driven cross from the left wing was headed by the Sevilla Atlético centre-back into his own net, giving Ibiza the lead.

Ibiza had a chance to double their lead on the stroke of half-time through a powerful Chavero effort from the edge of the box, but the opposition goalkeeper kept the score down to 1-0 at the break. The second half saw Ibiza control possession and limit the away side to very little in terms of attacking threat. Palop's team were on the attack and looking for a second goal to make sure of the win. And it arrived in the closing fifteen minutes through Javi Serra. In the 78th minute, Javi García slid the ball across the box and a Rodado dummey allowed the ball to travel across to Serra, who blasted it in off the bar with his left.

Palop made substitutions and he brought on Ndao for his league debut. A 2-0 win which allows Ibiza to carry on dreaming. Attention now turns to next Sunday's game against Sanluqueño.
