2-1: IMPORTANT WIN AGAINST MELILLA
Goals from Armenteros and Rodado give Ibiza the win at Can Misses.
Ibiza beat Melilla in the return to action after the Christmas break. Andrés Palop's side rounded off the first half of the Segunda B Group 4 fixture list with their third home win on the bounce. Ibiza began the match in control of possession; an early chance fell to Verdú but his header was well saved by the Melilla goalkeeper. The home team continued to push for the opener throughout the half and were inches away from taking the lead just before the break. Good build-up play between Chavero and Rodado set Javi García through on goal, but his effort from an acute angle crashed against the post. It was an excellent first half performance, all that was missing was an Ibiza goal.
The second half started in the best way possible. Just three minutes in and Ibiza were ahead, through Armenteros. The Argentinian midfielder got his head to a deep Chavero free kick to make it 1-0. However, just four minutes later, the away side drew level. In fact, the division's joint leaders could have scored a second from a free kick, but the ball cannoned back off the post and away from danger.
Ibiza began throwing men forward at every opportunity and looking to counter as quickly as possible. In one such attack in the 74th minute, Javi Serra and Cirio combined to put Rodado through on goal, and the young striker stuck his chance away. Ibiza pick up another home win and are now on 28 points at the halfway stage of the league season. The squad's focus turns to next week's match at Can Misses against Sevilla Atlético.
