Ibiza signs Álex Quintanilla

Álex Quintanilla (Bilbao, 2 July 1990) arrives at the Can Misses to reinforce Ibiza’s central defence. The full-back has extensive experience in Second Division A and Second Division B. Starting his football development at Lezama, he soon represented the second team of Athletic Club where he made his debut in Second Division B.

From Bilbao Athletic he moved to Deportivo Alavés which, at the time competed in the Spanish Third Division. While in Vitoria, Quintanilla had a great season which opened him the doors of Valencia Club de Fútbol. In one and a half years, he played for Mestalla before returning to the Basque Country and signing for Barakaldo. In familiar surroundings, Quintanilla soon established himself as one of the leading central defenders in Second Division B, a division in which he has played on 183 occasions, including a promotion playoff with the Basque team.

His stellar performances then saw him move up a division. Almería, Mirandés and Córdoba (where he spent the last season and a half) were the teams Quintanilla played for before now signing with Ibiza on the back of 57 matches played in La Liga Smart Bank. The ample qualities of the 1,85 metre tall central defender are now at Pablo Alfaro’s disposal, providing another reliable option with which to shore up the defence.

Welcome to Ibiza, Álex! We wish you the best of luck at Can Misses!
