Germán Parreño to protect Ibiza’s goal for another season

Ibiza and Germán Parreño (Elche, 16 February 1993) have reached an agreement for the goalkeeper to continue his spell with the Sky Blues until 30 June 2021. Having signed for Ibiza from UCAM Murcia last summer, Germán has had great performances so far while guarding Ibiza’s goal. In his 15 league appearances, he only conceded seven goals, giving Pablo Alfaro’s side plenty of security and making the Sky Blues the side with the least amount of goals conceded in all of Segunda B. This season, Germán was also a starter in all of Ibiza’s three Copa del Rey matches.

Germán is “very happy” knowing that he will stay at Can Misses for at least one more season: “This project is a very serious one, the work being done by everyone here is exceptional and the dressing room is full of professionals. I want to keep improving myself as a professional player here and contribute my part so that Ibiza continues to grow and develop as a club”. The keeper feels “completely adapted” to life on the island. “I haven’t been here for that long yet, but I already have been able to enjoy some unforgettable moments. Both the cup matches as well as the two derbies were unbelievable matches to be a part of. It’s these moments that prove to everyone that Ibiza as an island is yearning for football and has a real appetite for it”, explains the Elche-born player who highlights the strong connection the fans have with the team: “In the games against Peña Deportiva and Atlético Baleares when we played away from home, we felt as if we were playing at Can Misses thanks to the support of hundreds of Ibiza supporters who travelled to be with us. It’s fantastic to know that you’re a part of a team and club that generates these sentiments and feelings among so many people that each time are becoming more”.

For Amadeo Salvo, it’s a source of “great happiness” to know that Ibiza and its goalkeeper have extended its collaboration. Germán has shown both on and off the field that he is a first-class professional. He perfectly fits the profile in terms of the type of player we’re after in this project in order for Ibiza to reach its objectives. For us, it’s fantastic news knowing that we can count on his services for at least another season”, says the club’s president.
