1-0. Ibiza breaks down a solid Sporting B
Ibiza found its way back to winning form with a solid win against a plucky Sporting B side. The Sky Blues overcame the Asturian visitors thanks to a solitary goal scored by central defender Rubén. It wasn’t easy work for the home side, however, with Pablo Alfaro’s men having to exercise patience and persistence until after the fiftieth minute mark when a Javi Lara corner found Mariano whose header couldn’t be saved properly by Sporting B’s goalkeeper Christian Joel. The loose ball was quickly pounced upon by Rubén to put it in the back of the net. The goal settled an Ibiza side that up until then was busy and willing in its attacking efforts to open the score. Sporting B’s organized and solid defensive line-up made it difficult for the islanders to find an opening, but as they have done so often during this season, the Sky Blues did not panic nor hasten its approach. Instead, the team showed a lot of patience and belief which was soon rewarded after the half-time break. With the goal, Ibiza took control of the match and allowed its supporters to celebrate another important victory on a Sunday evening which coincided with carnival festivities on the island. Even so, a fantastic crowd of 3016 spectators flocked to Can Misses to push on their team and see the squad register another win to consolidate its position in the top four of Group 1 in Segunda B. Thanks to Rubén’s goal and the team’s solid performance, Pablo Alfaro’s men move up to second on the ladder. Next up are two consecutive matches on the road for the Sky Blues with a visit at Internacional de Madrid on March 1 and the second Balearic derby of the season in Palma against Atlético Baleares on March 8.
