3-1. Ibiza defeats Marino de Luanco with a classy display of football
Ibiza has maintained its current trend of good form in Segunda B. Pablo Alfaro's side ran out winners with a scoreline of 3-1 against Marino de Luanco in a match that saw the islanders put on a classy display of football. In doing so, the team has consolidated the third place in group I of Segunda B thanks to a seventh win out of nine home fixtures to date.
Ibiza imposed itself quickly onto the game and left its visitors with little possession and chances of their own. After a bright opening spell, it was Rodado who opened the score on twenty-one minutes with a true forward's finish from within the box. While Pablo Alfaro's side looked intent on extending its lead before the break, it had to be patient until the start of the second half when again it was Rodado who scored with a powerful strike on fifty-two minutes. Marino had few arguments to respond to Ibiza's growing pressure and flair and saw the deficit increase by one more goal when captain Sergio Cirio slotted a well-taken shot into the bottom right corner on the hour mark. With the match well and truly under control, Pablo Alfaro was able to make a number of changes which included the debut of Machuca as well as the introductions of Diego and Fran Carbia. Although Marino was able to score a consolation goal thanks to forward Mika's effort in stoppage time, Ibiza ran out comfortable winners to round off the last home fixture of 2019 in style and with another three points. Next on the agenda is the team's debut in the Copa del Rey competition on Wednesday night away to Pontevedra before Ibiza travels to the island's east next Sunday to take on Peña Deportiva in Santa Eulària in an island derby of round 18. The next home fixture at Can Misses will take place on January 5 against Langreo.
