Ibiza earn a well-deserved point at the Nuevo Colombino against Recreativo.
It was tense and exciting contest at the Nuevo Colombino. Ibiza visited Huelva to take on Recreativo in a key match in the race for the play-offs. The home team began the day in fifth position, with Ibiza hot on their heels in sixth. With both teams looking to close in on the top four, it was a game neither could afford to lose.
Recreativo had the better of the chances in the first half. Ródenas had a golden opportunity to put the hosts ahead but he was unable to finish at the back post. Minutes later, Caye had another gilt-edged chance to break the deadlock when he found himself one on one with Lucas, 6 yards out from goal, but he dragged his shot wide. Palop's side grew into the game and the final minutes of the half saw Ibiza looking more threatening, especially from set pieces.
The second half saw Ibiza concede less chances to the opposition and generate more attacking situations of their own. In fact, the game ended with the away team very much in the ascendancy but despite their best efforts, the goal just wouldn't come. The match ended 0-0, an important away point which keeps Ibiza in the hunt for a play-off spot. The squad now turn their attention to next week's away game against CD El Ejido.
