PREVIEW | Total focus on Langreo
To start the new year in the same way as last year ended. That's Ibiza's objective ahead of tomorrow home fixture against Unión Popular de Langreo at Can Misses at 12PM. Tomorrow's match signals the end of the first half of the season. It's an opportune time to take stock and reflect on the achievements so far, doing so however without looking too far ahead into the future. That's how Pablo Alfaro approached yesterday's pre-match press conference: “There is such a long way to go still before the end of the season. We shouldn't forget who we are and where we came from, we need to remain humble and realise that this is anything but easy. This is a process that's played out round after round, we have to earn it that way. We need to remain calm, work hard, recover, work and above all, have the ambition to win on Sunday because we will then have taken another step towards the end”.
Ibiza's head coach has the entire squad to choose from in terms of his squad selection for the match against tomorrow's opponents from Asturias. Álex Quintanilla, who injured himself on 24 November in the away match against Celta de Vigo B, is back to full fitness and ready to pursue his strong performances prior to his injury. The Christmas break served the entire squad well for a much-needed recharging of batteries. “Breaks are always good if you enjoy and make the most out of them, because they allow you to clear your head. As far as training and conditioning, the whole squad return in great shape. That speaks of the level of professionalism we have in the group”, explained Alfaro who expects his side to demonstrate the same level of competitiveness that saw his team collect 16 from the last 21 possible points.
